This course is designed for students to gain competencies and understand the implications of pre-existing illnesses/patients' pre-anesthetic states including fastingĀ status in anesthesia management, demonstrate basic skills in peri-operative pain management, basic airway management, pediatric and adult resuscitation, andĀ core anesthesia drugs. The learner should demonstrate basic competency and understanding of neuraxial and regional anesthesia and procedural sedation. Learners will also develop appropriate communication skills with patients, caretakers and colleagues. The learners should develop a culture of consulting with senior doctors and other healthcare professionals. Establishing smooth working relationships with colleagues and other critical and surgical team members and appreciating the interdisciplinary nature of anesthesia practice. The core objectives are to demonstrate proficiency in basic technical, interpretive and patient management skills.
